The Government has published New public health measures announced for living with COVID-19: The Path Ahead
From 10th May 2021:
- Anglers can travel outside of their county (inter-county travel)
- Guiding and angling instruction can resume (personal services by appointment)
- Angling training for adults can resume (outdoor training for adults in pods of a maximum of 15 people)
- Organised outdoor gatherings with a maximum attendance of 15 people
Inland Fisheries Ireland offers the following information to anglers as a guideline only.
Government advice to stop the spread of coronavirus is BE RESPONSIBLE, BE SAFE.
All Anglers
Follow up-to-date Government advice, however changes to Government advice may result in amendments to this information. To stay safe, anglers should follow public health guidelines:
- People may meet outdoors in groups of up to 15 people.
- Adult and Underage anglers may train outdoors in pods of up to 15.
- No competitions. Events may be able to resume from 07 June subject to public health situation at the time. IFI will update accordingly.
Small boat and lake anglers
Anglers in small boats to comply with physical distancing (2m), unless from same household. Remember to maintain physical distancing at slipways and access points.
Tourist anglers
Restrictions on travel to Ireland are in place. If you travel to Ireland from certain countries you have to undergo (at your own expense) mandatory hotel quarantine. Visiting international anglers should refer to government guidelines ‘Arriving to Ireland from another country’ for up-to-date advice.
Accommodation services including hotels, B&Bs, self-catering and hostels may reopen from 02 June subject to public health situation at the time
Charter Boat Fishing
Anglers to comply with physical distancing (2m), unless from same household. Remember to maintain physical distancing at slipways and access points.
Guides & Ghillies
Personal services by appointment are permitted. Group size must not exceed 15. Anglers to comply with physical distancing (2m) unless from same household.
General Guidance for everyone
- Follow Government protocols and public health guidelines.
- STAY home if you have symptoms
- Observe physical distancing by keeping at least 2 metres apart and wear a face covering.
- Park legally and responsibly if driving to outdoor amenities.
- Respect our emergency services and avoid activities that could potentially lead to emergency call outs.
- Respect the environment, animals & wildlife and dispose of waste properly.
- Travel separately, unless from the same household and visit outdoor areas at off peak times if possible.
